DOGUE Gelato Collection
With the launch of DOGUE’s new gelato range of dog leashes and collars, we asked Simone Kingston, founder of DOGUE and designer of these beautiful products, her inspiration and vision for this beautiful collection.
Q&A
What was the inspiration behind the collection?
SPRING! It is always fun to do something fresh for Spring and these leathers just popped out at me. Pastels always remind me of Spring and this season they are everywhere, so the timing was perfect.
Where do you get your design ideas?
I try to design new ranges at least six months ahead and the first thing I work on are colours, then I design the prints. For this I tend to look at what colours are in for the upcoming season, what will be popular in both fashion and homewares and work from there. For the patterns I always like to design something pretty, as that’s what DOGUE is known for and then contrast it with something neutral, but nothing too plain and DOGUE is not plain!
Why did you choose the colours/flavours?
After I had selected the leathers, the colours made me feel happy, they made me think of Gelato, so the flavours flowed easily from there.
What is your favourite design?
Lavender Gelato for sure!
Would you like to play more with pastels in the future?
Already done! All our new ranges due in over the coming months with be in the same colour waves.
What designs have you coming up?
Gorgeous new beds, blankets, and clothing. Plus some fun stuff for Christmas.
